Position Description :
The Director of Development is the chief fundraiser for CVPA and is responsible for creating, executing, and managing all fundraising and development activities, including raising funds towards a $1.8 million yearly budget. They will build and oversee the execution of CVPA’s development strategy and will be a member of the senior leadership team. The Director of Development will work to engage and raise funds from existing donors, forge new relationships to build CVPA’s visibility, impact, and financial resources, and create an internal organizational culture for fundraising.
This position will primarily be responsible for expanding, diversifying, and strengthening CVPA’s donor base and pipeline, while cultivating existing donors, organizational partners, and foundations. They will work closely with the Executive Director, leadership team members, the board of directors, and development and executive staff at PennFuture, our C3 strategic partner, to secure funding for new and existing initiatives.
Specific Job Duties:
Meet with and make fundraising asks of individual donors.
Develop an annual fundraising plan with evaluation metrics.
Develop and implement strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of
individuals, corporations, and foundations in concert with the Executive Director.
Manage and develop a portfolio of current, lapsed, and prospective donors.
Work in deep coordination with Development staff at PennFuture to share resources, create equivalencies, and jointly raise more funds for both organizations.
Work with the other staff and Executive Director to organize and execute various fundraising events each year, including our annual Green Gala.
Work with the other staff to manage grant timelines and deliverables, including drafting content and coordinating with program staff as appropriate.

The Development Director will be responsible for overseeing effective donor stewardship with existing funders, identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective new funders, leading the development of grant proposals and reports, establishing systems and processes to support an effective fundraising operation, and tracking progress toward grant objectives in close collaboration with the Leadership Team and relevant policy leads. The Development Director reports to the Managing Director and sits on the Extended Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the organization. This is a brand-new role and an exciting opportunity to build on the Alliance’s momentum and growth as we look to increase support for member states and territories at a critical moment for climate. The position is part of the Energy and Climate team at the United Nations Foundation, which houses the U.S. Climate Alliance Secretariat. Steer donor stewardship activities aimed at increasing visibility and understanding of the Alliance’s work, impact, and successes with existing funders. This may include organizing in-person meetings, virtual calls, and presentations with Alliance leadership and policy sector leads; drafting invitations to Alliance events and convenings; coordinating funder roundtables; amplifying relevant newsletters, announcements, and other publications; and other activities.
Respond to and coordinate responses to funder inquiries and requests.
Track deadlines, deliverables, and action items to support ongoing funder engagement.
Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective new funders.
Maintain knowledge of trends in climate philanthropy, particularly foundations, and other 501c (3) charitable organizations.
Identify and conduct research on prospective funders with strategic interests that align with the Alliance’s mission and policy priorities.
Prepare one-pagers, talking points, and other background materials for prospective funders that effectively and succinctly illustrate the Alliance’s work and impact.
Facilitate outreach, engagement, and relationship-building with prospective new donors in collaboration with the Executive Director and Managing Director.
Support engagement between Alliance leadership and current and prospective funders.
Establish a travel and meeting strategy for the Executive Director and Managing Director that proactively identifies opportunities for engagement.
In advance of meetings or other interactions with funders, draft briefing documents and compile other supporting materials.
Schedule and run any needed advance preparation meetings.
Schedule and run debrief meetings to ensure that meeting details and outcomes are appropriately documented, and action items are tracked.
Lead the development and submission of all funding proposals.
Working with fellow Secretariat team members, lead the development of grant proposals that align with the Alliance’s mission and strategic plan, advance our policy priorities, support the needs of states, and complement specific funder interests.
Create and implement a proposal review process that ensures all relevant staff, including the Executive Director, are in alignment on a proposal before it is submitted.
With the Operations and Development team, create a proposal budget.
Submit all proposals through the relevant donor portal.
Lead the development and submission of all required grant reports.
Track reporting deadlines and proactively work with sector leads and the Operations and Development Teams to submit financial and narrative reports on time.
Create and implement a reporting review process that ensures all relevant staff are in alignment on a report before it is submitted.
With the Operations and Development Teams, implement and oversee processes for:
Connecting Alliance-wide annual planning to fundraising goals.
Reviewing and negotiating grant agreements.
Qualifying new prospective funders.
Communicating with funders and tracking funder interactions.

Selection Criteria
Bachelor’s degree required.
7-10 years of relevant work experience.

Position Description
America Votes Pennsylvania is seeking a well-organized self-starter for a full-time position as the Pennsylvania Program Director. The Pennsylvania Program Director plays a key role in the advancement of the progressive movement and winning elections in the state. This person will be the keeper and coordinator of some of the most exciting progressive electoral and issue work taking place in the state. The position works directly with the America Votes team, as well as dozens of progressive partners across the state, in the planning and execution of electoral and advocacy campaigns, the coordination of field programs, and the utilization of best practices to ensure quality plans and maximize our collective efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is ready for a mid-level role in a campaign environment and has a passion for helping others do their best work, loves canvass programs, and is excited about the details and tools that power direct voter contact programs. The position reports directly to the Pennsylvania State Director.
Location
This position is based in Pennsylvania with Philadelphia preferred and will require travel around the state.
Responsibilities
Project Management: Support the state director in implementing America Votes' organizational goals, including REI goals. Participate in team creation of work plans and team benchmarks for success. Manage special projects to deliver on team goals.
Partner Support : Support coalition partners through the development of campaign plans (electoral, voting rights and issue campaigns). This may include providing technical and organizing assistance for individual partner organizations or groups of partners , responding to programmatic requests, and supporting the implementation of winning strategies. Develop or co-develop capacity-building opportunities for partners and work with the state team to assess program gaps and overlaps to maximize program impact for both issue and electoral efforts. Work with the state data director to support data needs of partner programs. Portfolio may include some grant management.
Support Coalition Management : Work with the state director by tracking electoral and advocacy programs aligned with the coalition plan, monitoring benchmarks, providing technical assistance including scaling up tactics and basic use of tools like VAN, and identifying gaps in collective strategy. This work may include providing logistical support to coalition meetings, leading core areas of the coalition coordination, leading strategic conversations around winning strategies, and/or managing work groups. Maintaining external communications with partners (i.e. may include weekly emails) and workgroup listservs, meeting follow-up, regular phone calls, etc. Lead and support the creation and development of written reports and products. Support and create content for reports and deliver presentations to diverse sets of stakeholders, sometimes on short timelines.
Direct Voter Contact Leadership : Lead coalition campaign work on field tactics implementation (like canvassing), including supporting the integration of best practices as well as managing universe coverage. Facilitate creative solutions to challenges related to electoral and issue campaigns. Support electoral and advocacy program implementation across partner organizations including script development and program timing and support some partners in using VAN (Voter Activation Network). This work includes planning, implementation and post-program assessment and may include developing systems or updating existing systems to manage the information.
Program Implementation Management : Lead meetings of coalition partners, which may include work groups on election-related topics such as down ballot (legislative, school board, etc) races. Support events of America Votes partners and allies including coalition meetings and trainings. Support program implementation through the voter file and other tools including basic VAN administration and support in using tools like Scale to Win.

Qualifications
Required
Ideal candidates will have at least 3-5 years of experience in progressive political campaigns, progressive non-profits or similar organizations (with a campaign focus), or similar transferable experience and a minimum two years of project management experience.
Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, particularly in electoral or political settings.
Strong sense of ownership and resilience with respect to planning ahead, finding alternative paths when needed, and moving forward after setbacks. Demonstrated a bility to move people to action and hold them accountable with and without formal authority.
At least one cycle (minimum of 12 months) of experience with campaign field operations including canvass operations and script writing. Familiarity with VAN (Voter Activation Network) or similar systems. Understanding of canvass operations and how to scale programs required. Experience with data and targeting, including using data to inform strategic decisions in campaigns.
Demonstrated ability to build consensus, negotiate, and strategically disagree within a highly collaborative work environment; ability to be respected by progressive stakeholders, to be trusted to lead and to be able to practice confidentiality, discretion and legal compliance in the work.
At least two years of experience working in a coalition including experience facilitating and working within broad and diverse coalitions. Ability to build strong relationships with partners and allies and to cultivate those relationships over the long term.

Position Description
America Votes Pennsylvania is seeking a well-organized self-starter for a full-time position as the Pennsylvania Program Director. The Pennsylvania Program Director plays a key role in the advancement of the progressive movement and winning elections in the state. This person will be the keeper and coordinator of some of the most exciting progressive electoral and issue work taking place in the state. The position works directly with the America Votes team, as well as dozens of progressive partners across the state, in the planning and execution of electoral and advocacy campaigns, the coordination of field programs, and the utilization of best practices to ensure quality plans and maximize our collective efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is ready for a mid-level role in a campaign environment and has a passion for helping others do their best work, loves canvass programs, and is excited about the details and tools that power direct voter contact programs. The position reports directly to the Pennsylvania State Director.
Location
This position is based in Pennsylvania with Philadelphia preferred and will require travel around the state.
Responsibilities
Project Management: Support the state director in implementing America Votes' organizational goals, including REI goals. Participate in team creation of work plans and team benchmarks for success. Manage special projects to deliver on team goals.
Partner Support : Support coalition partners through the development of campaign plans (electoral, voting rights and issue campaigns). This may include providing technical and organizing assistance for individual partner organizations or groups of partners , responding to programmatic requests, and supporting the implementation of winning strategies. Develop or co-develop capacity-building opportunities for partners and work with the state team to assess program gaps and overlaps to maximize program impact for both issue and electoral efforts. Work with the state data director to support data needs of partner programs. Portfolio may include some grant management.
Support Coalition Management : Work with the state director by tracking electoral and advocacy programs aligned with the coalition plan, monitoring benchmarks, providing technical assistance including scaling up tactics and basic use of tools like VAN, and identifying gaps in collective strategy. This work may include providing logistical support to coalition meetings, leading core areas of the coalition coordination, leading strategic conversations around winning strategies, and/or managing work groups. Maintaining external communications with partners (i.e. may include weekly emails) and workgroup listservs, meeting follow-up, regular phone calls, etc. Lead and support the creation and development of written reports and products. Support and create content for reports and deliver presentations to diverse sets of stakeholders, sometimes on short timelines.
Direct Voter Contact Leadership : Lead coalition campaign work on field tactics implementation (like canvassing), including supporting the integration of best practices as well as managing universe coverage. Facilitate creative solutions to challenges related to electoral and issue campaigns. Qualifications
Required
Ideal candidates will have at least 3-5 years of experience in progressive political campaigns, progressive non-profits or similar organizations (with a campaign focus), or similar transferable experience and a minimum two years of project management experience.
Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, particularly in electoral or political settings.
Strong sense of ownership and resilience with respect to planning ahead, finding alternative paths when needed, and moving forward after setbacks. Demonstrated a bility to move people to action and hold them accountable with and without formal authority.
At least one cycle (minimum of 12 months) of experience with campaign field operations including canvass operations and script writing. NextGen America is seeking passionate and hardworking candidates to join our youth organizing program in Pennsylvania , working to engage young people in electoral politics by registering thousands of young people to vote across the state. NextGen is committed to engaging young people in Pennsylvania in the political process and increasing participation among 18-35 year olds. This role will be focused on organizing in one of several regions in Pennsylvania as part of this ambitious effort.
In Pennsylvania , this effort will focus on organizing young people on campuses and the surrounding communities to bring progressive change to government through voting. Our work will engage young voters in voter registration efforts, volunteer recruitment, and pledging young people to vote.
This role will be based in State College and reports to the Organizing Director in Pennsylvania .
