Cummins is seeking an entry level to experienced clinician to be part of our school-based team improving the quality of life for children and families as a Life Skills Specialist. The position will be based at a elementary, middle or high school in Frankfort, Indiana within Clinton County .
Essential Duties Include:
Provide the consumer with face-to-face contact for the purpose of coaching, teaching, or using motivational interviewing to assist the consumer in meeting Person-Centered Treatment Plan goals
Communicate and collaborate with school administration, counselors, and teachers on a consistent and timely basis via telephone, email, and face-to-face to address the needs and progress of consumers and their families
Schedule work hours in accordance with the needs of the specific school satellite location; this may include early morning hours and after school hours in the homes of the consumers.
Life Skills Specialists will be trained to utilize the following models and approaches to meeting the consumers' needs:

Education and experience :

THE OPPORTUNITY
Breakthrough Greater Boston is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Manager of College Access (MCA) to oversee all aspects of programming for 11 th and 12 th grade students at the Cambridge Campus. The MCA will be responsible for ensuring that 11 th and 12 th grade students at their campus are fully supported as they apply and matriculate to college by offering intentional programming, individualized resources, and advocacy. The MCA works closely with other members of a dynamic Program Team and reports directly to the Managing Director of College Access and Success.

A successful Manager of College Access will work in close alignment with the Managing Director of College Access and Success to:
Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with 11 th -12 th grade students their campus, supporting their academic and social emotional growth while supporting their post-secondary planning
Maintain positive, regular communication with students’ families and other important adults, nurturing trusting relationships and collaboratively ensuring students’ success
Oversee development of innovative, responsive college access programming for their campus
Collaborate with other Program Team members to create a seamless layer of support for students and families during Breakthrough’s six-year program
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
In this exciting role you will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities including:
Student and Family Support
Directly support students at your campus through existing 11 th and 12 th grade school year programming, including course counseling, test prep, college visits, and the College Access Coach program
Champion students by nurturing individual student strengths and providing holistic advocacy, interventions, and resources as needed
Provide students with connections to supplemental career and enrichment opportunities during the summer and school year
Maintain regular communication with students’ families, including annual family check-ins, relevant family workshops, and individualized support with college and financial aid processes as needed
Oversee students’ transition from 12 th grade to college success programming
Program Management
Supervise a team of dedicated volunteer College Access Coaches at your campus to work one-on-one with juniors and seniors on various components of the college application process
Develop and lead student and family workshops connected to the college and financial aid application processes
Plan and lead the summer College Prep Institute for rising 12 th grade students
Support students in our College Transition Program through summer workshops, panels, and other modes of outreach as appropriate
Create new programming as appropriate to further our vision of every Breakthrough student having the skills and knowledge needed to attend – and be successful in – college; collaborate with team members at other campuses to ensure thoughtful, site-specific implementation of this programming
Ensure accurate and effective data collection to inform programmatic decision making and advance students’ eventual success
Partnership Management
In collaboration with other Directors, maintain positive, frequent communication with school staff members, representatives from local community-based organizations, and target colleges
Conduct semesterly guidance counselor check-ins to further inform individual supports for students and identify additional enrichment opportunities
Oversee collection and analysis of 11 th and 12 th grade student academic records including report cards, progress reports and Individualized Education Plans
YOUR BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

A successful Managing Director of Student Services will:
Ensure BTGB’s positive relationships with its students, families and teachers through direct relationship building and advisement to the program team at a site level.
Develop programming that is aligned across both grade levels and sites to ensure a high quality and cohesive experience for students and teachers.
Foster strong partnerships within the district and city, including with district schools, local universities, and other key collaborators.
Ensure each member of the Student Services team is well trained, supported in their role and provided with opportunities for growth.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
In this exciting role you will be responsible for a variety of critical leadership responsibilities including:
Site Leadership
Build vision and collaboration among site-based team members
Build awareness of BTGB’s mission and clearly articulate program impact to stakeholders
Maintain regular contact through bi-annual meetings with key administrators and district leaders
Create and share regular program reports, highlights and updates with school and district administrators
Ensure site-based staff develop and maintain strong partnerships with school-based teachers, counselors, administrators and support staff
Ensure school and district communications are tracked in salesforce
Build and maintain strong partnerships with local colleges and universities
Represent BTGB at key events within the district and city
Foster strong partnerships with community-based organizations
Ensure strong school partnerships, including oversight of key operational components (space, tech, data access, etc.)
Manage and support with time-sensitive crises at a particular campus
Collaborate with other Managing Directors to ensure aligned and high-quality programming across sites
Student Services Team Supervision
Hire program staff on the Student Services team, including permanent full-time employees, as well as oversee the hiring of part-time and seasonal staff and regular programmatic volunteers
Ensure all program staff on the Student Services team receive high quality onboarding and training to set them up for long term success in their roles, as well as oversee onboarding and training of part-time and seasonal staff and regular programmatic volunteers
Conduct weekly supervision, professional development planning, and regular performance evaluations for program staff on the Student Services team
Oversee staff succession planning and transition oversight for the department
Program Oversight
Maintain up-to-date field knowledge within Student Services area
Manage partnerships with external organizations for the Student Services department
Observe programming within Student Services across sites on a consistent basis
Oversee departmental expenditures against budget on a monthly basis
Strengthen internal operations and infrastructure for effective program delivery
Write or update any programmatic policies needed to ensure safe, ethical, and effective operation of BTGB programming
Program Design and Evaluation
Oversee the development and tracking of goals within Student Services
Set standards for accountability and measurements of success for program delivery as well as student and teacher success
Oversee BTGB’s evaluation activities including data collection systems and evaluation reporting
Communicate Breakthrough’s data and successes both internally (Board, ED, development team) and externally (School partners, Breakthrough Collaborative, education field)
Program Growth, Strategy and Sustainability
With expansion, aid in new staff identification, hiring and training; site start-up efforts; and building strategic partnerships
Ensure the consistent high quality of programming across campuses
Maintain Breakthrough’s culture of collaboration; create effective and efficient cross-site communication and collaboration processes
Develop a knowledge management system that supports information sharing and ensures Breakthrough remains a best-in-class learning organization
Lead programmatic special projects and initiatives, as they arise
Program Leadership
Ensure the consistent high quality of programming across campuses

THE OPPORTUNITY
Breakthrough Greater Boston is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Director of Student Services (SDSS) to oversee all aspects of student support and family engagement for our middle school summer and school-year programs at one of our three campuses as well as provide leadership and support across our three campuses for our Student Services team. The SDSS will be responsible for leading the annual student recruitment and admissions process; overseeing SEL programming; and managing school and community partnerships. The SDSS is a leadership role within the Student Services Team and as such takes on additional responsibilities such as coaching/mentoring colleagues, special initiatives, collaborating across departments, coverage planning for open roles and partnership development. The SDSS works closely with other members of a dynamic Program Team and reports directly to the Managing Director of Student Services.
POSITION OUTCOMES
A successful Senior Director of Student Services will work in close alignment with the Managing Director of Student Services to:
Lead within the department in areas that include but are not limited to: short and long term departmental planning, partnership development, special initiatives, staff support and coverage, data/reporting.
Plan and lead safe and engaging programming during the summer and school year for middle school students and Teaching Fellows
Manage recruitment and admissions efforts across Breakthrough’s partner schools to enroll a cohort of 45-50 students annually
Oversee family engagement initiatives including maintaining frequent positive communication and facilitating fall and spring family check-ins for all 7 th and 8 th grade families
Maintain accurate, up-to-date student records to inform appropriate social emotional support services and/or academic interventions
Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to plan and implement high quality school year and summer programming
Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure all middle school students are well supported in their academic and social emotional learning
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners that advance the work of your department including partner schools, universities, community based organizations and local companies

Oversee the day-to-day operations of year-round academic programming at your campus
Train and provide ongoing support to teaching fellows
Ensure accurate and effective data collection to inform programmatic decision making and student success
Student Recruitment and Admissions
Develop and maintain student recruitment pipeline relationships with teachers, administrators and parent liaisons at partner schools as well as representatives from other youth-serving organizations
Plan and conduct a comprehensive student recruitment effort, including recruitment presentations and workshops in all sixth-grade classrooms at partner schools
Oversee student admissions, selecting the most qualified students from a pool of applicants from 6 th grade classes across our partner schools
Student Support
Support students’ social emotional health and well-being, including supervising BTGB’s school-year and summer counselors
Manage Student Advising Program to ensure that all students are connected to a BTGB advisor and receiving consistent advocacy touchpoints
Oversee the creation and implementation of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III interventions to support students, including daily mindfulness practice (Tier I), restorative circles (Tier II) and SEL Skill Building groups (Tier III)
Provide students with connections to supplemental and enrichment opportunities and maintain important organizational partnerships
Collect relevant data (report cards and progress reports) to track student academic progress
Family Involvement
Maintain positive, frequent communication with students’ families, nurturing healthy, trusting relationships and collaboratively ensuring students’ success
Conduct family check-ins each semester with all families to assess academic progress, address areas of concern and discuss extra-curricular enrichment opportunities
Work with the Board of Directors family representative to support the Family Advisory Board and encourage broad family participation in student recruitment, family communications, special events, and more
Partnership Management
Help to articulate goals and advance work for your department’s partnerships
In collaboration with program team members, maintain frequent, positive and productive communication with school staff members, representatives from local community-based organizations, and target colleges to collaboratively ensure our students’ success

The SDSS will be responsible for leading the annual student recruitment and admissions process; overseeing SEL programming; and managing school and community partnerships. The SDSS is a leadership role within the Student Services Team and as such takes on additional responsibilities such as coaching/mentoring colleagues, special initiatives, collaborating across departments, coverage planning for open roles and partnership development. Lead within the department in areas that include but are not limited to: short and long term departmental planning, partnership development, special initiatives, staff support and coverage, data/reporting.
Plan and lead safe and engaging programming during the summer and school year for middle school students and Teaching Fellows
Manage recruitment and admissions efforts across Breakthrough’s partner schools to enroll a cohort of 45-50 students annually
Oversee family engagement initiatives including maintaining frequent positive communication and facilitating fall and spring family check-ins for all 7 th and 8 th grade families
Maintain accurate, up-to-date student records to inform appropriate social emotional support services and/or academic interventions
Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to plan and implement high quality school year and summer programming
Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure all middle school students are well supported in their academic and social emotional learning
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners that advance the work of your department including partner schools, universities, community based organizations and local companies

Manage Student Advising Program to ensure that all students are connected to a BTGB advisor and receiving consistent advocacy touchpoints
Oversee the creation and implementation of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III interventions to support students, including daily mindfulness practice (Tier I), restorative circles (Tier II) and SEL Skill Building groups (Tier III)

Family Involvement

Breakthrough Greater Boston (BTGB) is a transformative college access and teacher training program. BTGB offers six years of academic enrichment and college preparation to middle school and high school students with high potential but limited opportunities. POSITION SUMMARY
The SEL Specialist promotes the social-emotional wellness of students and staff through programming that supports a positive culture and climate, coordinates universal social-emotional instruction, and provides evidence-based targeted supports. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction:
Lead engaging, data-driven instruction in Mathematics, using a predetermined Math curriculum.
Teach daily student interventions, providing individualized instruction based on student needs.
Analyze student data and use it to provide student feedback and set goals
Collaborate with other teachers, school leaders, curriculum directors, the English Language Development Director, and the special education team to ensure that instruction meets the needs of each learner.
Be available to students by phone every evening, Monday-Thursday, for homework assistance until 8:00 p.m.
Culture:
Lead a student advisory at the beginning and end of each school day, and serve as the main point of contact and advocate for students in an advisory of approximately 15 students.
Establish systems and routines in order to create a safe, purposeful, and welcoming classroom environment focused on learning.
Communicate regularly and often with families to both solicit their input and share student social and academic progress.
Provide supervision of students during before and after school activities (arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, and break).
Participate in family and community events, including twice-annual parent conferences and at least one student enrollment event or activity.
Own the success and achievement of all scholars in the school.
Development:
Attend and participate in weekly staff and grade level meetings.
Participate in regular instructional coaching meetings and content-based department meetings.
Participate in STRIVE Prep’s Summer Training Institute as well as professional development throughout the school year.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree
Achieve Qualified Teacher status (teacher’s license not required) within six weeks of starting through one of the approved channels outlined by the Colorado Department of Education

Speaks Spanish
2+ years of teaching experience
Knowledgeable about math instruction through a culturally responsive and critical pedagogical framework
Demonstrated success working with scholars from historically marginalized communities

Salary : $41,000 - $58,000* based on years of experience + a $2,500 addition to base upon successful passing of the Secondary Math Praxis
