Are you ready to directly impact the lives of first-generation college students and champion economic mobility for all?
About Us
Did you know that only 21% of low income, first-generation students in the U.S. graduate from college within six years? Those who do graduate have a median household income 27% lower than their peers. While there are a multitude of college access programs for high school seniors and job assistance programs for low-wage earners, there are few programs that ensure first-generation students stay in school and build the skills necessary to prepare for long-term careers. This is where America Needs You (ANY) comes in.

Salary for this position is in the range of $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience.
Ready to take on some of the most powerful forces in our society? We’re looking for a Managing Director to join a fierce, smart team challenging global corporations, holding them accountable, and creating a world where all people can thrive.
In our 40 year track record, Corporate Accountability has worked in deep partnership with organizers and activists from around the world to run powerful corporate campaigns. From exposing the abuses of the private water industry in partnership with allies on the ground in Lagos, Nigeria to Flint, Michigan, to standing up to tobacco transnationals for promoting and profiting off of a product that continues to put the health of millions at risk, our long-term strategic campaigns have successfully put people power over profits.
Sound exciting? Well that’s where you come in! We are looking for a Managing Director of the organization, focusing on our campaign work, to ensure we have the biggest possible impact, are rooted in values of equity and justice, and are set up for success in the future. You will be an executive leader within the organization, working alongside our Executive Director and two other Managing Directors. Holding the whole of our campaigns work, you will manage an experienced and diverse team of corporate campaigners, providing strategic direction and management towards campaign success and impact.
Rooted in your experience working in equitable partnership with Global South, frontline, and grassroots communities — and grounded in cultural humility, you will partner with our campaign leadership and teams in the U.S., Latin America, and Africa to directly take on some of the most destructive industries on the planet, building power and leadership for the broader corporate accountability movement. Additionally, you will hold key relationships with allies, thought leaders, and key members of the media, advancing our messaging across platforms. The results of your collective work to dismantle and disrupt the corporate status quo—from the halls of the U.N. to acting in solidarity with communities on the frontlines—will move us toward a world free of corporate abuse, where all people can thrive.
Who you are
The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have make you mad as hell -- and you have experience working on campaigns that directly challenge corporate power and abuse.
You have a commitment to advancing racial equity and ending systems of oppression, and are ready to do this in your day-to-day work. You understand that campaigning for justice must include working to dismantle white supremacy, institutional racism, legacies of colonialism, and anti-Blackness.
You are a great staff manager, bringing over 5+ years of experience in staff management to the role. You bring out the best in your team and manage staff towards their goals drawing from your experience in designing effective work plans based on available capacity. You also know how to establish structure and clarity of roles and responsibilities within your team, ensuring organizational capacities align with team success. And you have demonstrated attention to cultural humility, successfully working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, geographies, and cultural contexts.
You know what it takes to manage from a place of senior leadership. Simply put, you know how to effectively bridge the gap between your team’s work and success and how that adds up to supporting the overall priorities of the organization. And you know that managing an organization also means navigating changing conditions with grace, making hard decisions, and having hard conversations—and the best way to do so is with openness, fairness, and input from others.
You know that achieving any goal requires a well-considered plan with a timeline. And you’ve got the skills to create plans that are highly efficient, strategic, and creative. You know how to take into consideration the context (political, organizational, etc.) and people involved, and work with what’s available to create the best plan possible. But you don’t keep this valuable skill to yourself: you also have significant experience in supporting others to create plans and processes toward achieving goals, and have a clear sense of how processes and tactics add up to impact.
You’re a skilled facilitator. You can guide a group of diverse participants through a conversation or process that builds on shared goals and works toward strategic outcomes. Drawing from experience in conflict resolution, you know how to navigate and interrupt power dynamics so all participants can engage meaningfully.
You have 10+ years of experience in organizing, and a significant portion of that experience is in corporate campaigning. You also have experience overseeing program budgets and in fundraising for a program. Additional experience in building grassroots people power, organizing, and training is preferred, as well as prior experience working in media.
What you’ll be responsible for in the day-to-day
In partnership with our Executive Director and two Managing Directors, you will lead and strategize at the organizational management level.
Manage and oversee seasoned campaigners on our Climate , Water , and Tobacco campaigns toward high-functioning and aligned corporate campaigning, grounded in our anti-racist values and commitments, through strategic guidance, progress assessment, feedback loops, and troubleshooting as needed.
Work to build trust, cohesion, and alignment between your staff/team and the organization’s leadership through developing and strengthening internal coordination systems as well as overseeing strong coordination between the campaigns, research, development, and communications teams.
Work in close coordination with our communications team to ensure our corporate campaigns integrate and implement communications campaign strategies and tactics.
Manage relationships with key funders and partner with fundraisers to ensure they have what they need, including external messaging on campaign plans and strategy.
Support team leaders to build a shared understanding of organizational priorities and budgets, providing support across programs you oversee to manage program budgets, while maximizing their strategic impact. Additionally, play a lead role in our annual organizational planning process and ensure campaign plans and goals align behind our annual organizational plans and budgets, mission, and vision.
Build and hold relationships with organizational allies to develop and seize opportunities to build international visibility and solidarity for Corporate Accountability’s campaigns and stand in solidarity with frontline justice struggles around the world.
Facilitate strategic planning meetings, and support campaigns staff as they do so, in partnership with our allies—keeping an eye towards racial equity, and ensuring we have the long-term and short-term vision, strategy, goals, and plans to advance an integrated campaigns agenda.
Represent the organization at ally convenings, campaign events, coalition spaces, and as an organizational spokesperson in the media.
Travel 2 - 4 times each year to represent Corporate Accountability at events such as international treaty meetings or national campaigns events. We will continue to be mindful of global health concerns and continue to center the health and safety of our staff in travel decisions.
Actively participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, racial equity work, recruitment, and campaign activities.
Salary and benefits:
Salary range: $100,535 - $128,715 in alignment with recent updates to our salary and compensation protocols.
Hours: Corporate Accountability’s full-time staff generally work 32 hours per week, with periods of more intensive work that correspond with the ebb and flow nature of campaigns or projects throughout the year. Our core hours are 10 am - 4 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with flexibility to determine your remaining hours of the week in coordination with your supervisor and team. Given the nature of campaigning, rapid response moments, and working with organizers and activists at an international organization, there will be instances where you would need to be available outside of standard business hours.
Our comprehensive benefit package includes: health insurance (with 90% of the premium for all tiers covered by the organization) and dental coverage (with 100% of the individual premium covered by the organization and the option to add dependents at an additional cost); $40/month home office stipend with $250 provided at the time of hire to go towards setting up a home office; FSA for transit, health care, and dependent care; and 401(k) with employer match.
Generous time off policies including one month of personal vacation time, one week of office closure for collective rest, holidays, and unlimited wellness days to prioritize health.
Both internal and external training and leadership development opportunities.
Energetic, collaborative, and social campaign environment.
Location :
Remote based role with the expectation of travel to our campaign headquarters in Boston at least 2-3 times a year.
We are looking for great candidates from a wide range of backgrounds. If you don’t exactly fit the job description, but you know you have skills and experiences that are transferable to this position, please apply! Tell us about yourself and why you should be our next Managing Director.
To apply: Visit www.corporateaccountability.org/employment-opportunities. Attach your résumé to the online application and include a cover letter. Please include where you heard about the position. The take-away
Ready to take on some of the most powerful forces in our society? We’re looking for a Membership Organizer to join a fierce, smart team challenging global corporations, holding them accountable, and creating a world where all people can thrive.
Why you’ll love coming to work every day
You’ll help change the world by being part of fearless and winning campaigns. You’ll be joining an organization that’s not satisfied with the world as it is—and has a vision for how it should be. When your quest is ending corporate abuse, you can’t be afraid to name names and demand what the world needs. For more than 40 years, we’ve been exposing and challenging the abuses of the likes of Nestlé, Exxon Mobil, Philip Morris International, McDonald’s, and more. We don’t back down, and we run campaigns until we win.
You’ll work with awesome people . Join a team of passionate, kind, determined, optimistic, and solutions-oriented folks. We work hard, celebrate victories large and small, and always have each other’s backs.
You can take on big responsibilities as you go. You’ll thrive here as you develop new skills, tackle new challenges, learn, and grow. We pay lots of attention to building staff leadership, and we provide support and training to help you grow in your role.
You’ll be part of an organization committed to advancing racial equity and transforming systems of oppression. We are deeply committed to prioritizing the leadership of people who bear the brunt of corporate abuse: Black and Indigenous people and other people of color, women, low-income people, people in the Global South, and LGBTQ+ folks around the world. Our unique culture has been fostered by a long history of women at the helm. We are actively focusing on the leadership of our staff of color, knowing we are stronger when the organization reflects the vision of the world we’re building together.
What you’ll do
Corporate Accountability’s impact starts with our monthly donors—and you will be working closely with them to help realize all of the power they bring to this movement.
Corporate Accountability is a member powered organization and has been for more than four decades. It’s one of our greatest strengths because our members give us the political independence we need to wage hard-hitting campaigns that challenge deep-rooted power structures. And monthly donors are the backbone of this membership support. Their regular contribution provides financial stability so we can create long-term, strategic campaign plans and the ability to react quickly when things change.
Your job will be to grow and deepen relationships with our members while innovating and expanding the ways we fundraise monthly gifts. You will use your creativity, your people skills, and your digital skills to broaden our fundraising tactics to increase membership from young folks and members of the global majority. You’ll play an important role in the team that’s advancing racial justice and equity through organizing with our members. And, you’ll work with members to take action and create activist leadership opportunities that challenge corporate power and systemic racism, and advances our campaigns.
Who you are
The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have makes you mad as hell—and you want to do something about it.
You have a commitment to advancing racial equity and ending systems of oppression, and are ready to do this in your day-to-day work. You understand that campaigning for justice must include working to dismantle white supremacy, institutional racism, legacies of colonialism, and anti-Blackness.
You know how to ask people for money and you are skilled at moving people to financially support work that helps them achieve their vision of the world. You believe activating more people to fund long-term, effective campaigning is essential. You’re enthusiastic about doing so because you know that asking for and giving money are both powerful acts of social change.
You passionately believe that relationship-based organizing is how we change the world—and you have the experience, relationship-building, and interpersonal communication skills to turn your passion into action. Whether it’s on climate, racial, economic, gender, or other social justice issues, you have experience successfully working across lines of difference in a U.S. context to mobilize and activate diverse groups of people toward a shared goal and vision. You know how to build relationships with trust and integrity, respecting people’s inherent power, agency, and ability to create change. And you are a stellar active listener.
You’re a problem-solver and solutions-oriented. You’re able to come up with a range of creative and innovative solutions when things don’t go quite as planned, especially when it comes to digital fundraising. You know how to analyze the situation, get the information you need, and propose solutions to solve fundraising needs.
You are good with technology and troubleshooting. Most likely you’re the one your grandma/uncle/colleagues/friends call when they’re confused with a new digital platform. And you love to help them figure it out, big or small. You’re patient and a good trainer. Plus, you’re an early adopter and eager to test out and learn new apps and systems whenever you can.
You are willing to travel 3-6 times per year across the Northeast for house parties and member engagement. Our current approach to travel is staff-led, meaning we will continue to center the health and safety of our staff in these decisions.
You have 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, organizing, campaigning, nonprofits or other relevant fields.
What you’ll be responsible for in the day-to-day
Fundraise monthly gifts from new, prospective, and current members. You will use a number of fundraising tactics including peer-to-peer fundraising, in-person events and parties, converting digital-recruited leads to monthly pledgers, and ongoing fundraising phoning.
Innovate monthly giving fundraising tactics with focus towards a growing digital fundraising landscape and increasing our feedback loop from young members and members of the global majority.
Seize opportunities to move members to action and activist leadership that furthers our campaign areas and shows members the impact they are making in the world with us. You’ll be responsible for supporting member cultivation tactics: from new member welcome outreach to activist onboarding, you’ll be there to support members each step of the way.
Coordinate closely with the Senior Membership Manager regarding timing and expected income generated from the monthly giving growth tactics you’re innovatively implementing.
Lead all-staff fundraising teams that are primarily geared toward growing the monthly giving program.
Participate in the member and activist base building working group and bring forward new ideas to make our efforts to expand and cultivate our membership base more racially equitable.
Identify any high dollar leads in our general member base for the major gifts team.
Actively participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, racial equity work, recruitment, and campaign activities.
Salary and benefits:
Salary range: $60,000 - $63,495 commensurate with experience.
Given the nature of fundraising work, rapid response moments, and member house parties, there will be instances where you would need to be available outside of our standard business hours.

The take-away
Ready to take on some of the most powerful forces in our society? We’re looking for a Senior Water Organizer to join a fierce, smart team challenging global corporations, holding them accountable, and creating a world where all people can thrive.
You’ll work with awesome people.
We are deeply committed to prioritizing the leadership of people who bear the brunt of corporate abuse: Black and Indigenous people and other people of color, women, low-income people, people in the Global South, and LGBTQIA+ folks around the world. Our unique culture has been fostered by a long history of women at the helm. We are actively focusing on the leadership of our staff of color, knowing we are stronger when the organization reflects the vision of the world we’re building together.
What you’ll do
Water is life–but there are far too many people across the globe who do not have access to the basic human right of safe water. Transnational water corporations are exploiting and exacerbating this crisis to gain control of and privatize water systems, putting profit over the health and livelihoods of millions in the U.S. and around the world. And water privatizers and entities like the World Bank are targeting the Global South, and Africa in particular, as an expansion region for the water privatization market. That’s why we need to organize to prevent water privatization globally and promote well-funded, democratically-accountable, and equitable public water solutions.
For over a decade, Corporate Accountability has partnered deeply with organizers and activists from around the world to run powerful grassroots campaigns that have successfully stopped water privatization in its tracks. From Lagos, Nigeria to Flint, Michigan and beyond, we work with our partners to expose the abuses of private water corporations and stop them from taking control of public water systems. And our collective victories have sent shockwaves through the industry, compelling strategic shifts and transformative change. You’ll be a part of the team harnessing this momentum to advance water justice around the globe–and stop the private water industry’s schemes.
Our water campaign is built on deep relationship-building, clear collective goals and sharp strategies, and strong systems and coordination. That’s where you come in. You’ll deepen our existing partnerships and build new ones with activists in the U.S. and around the world. You’ll help develop and execute strategy meetings with your team and allies to create the plans we need to win. And you’ll manage the financial and logistical systems that are critical to keep us on track towards our goals and our vision of a world of safe, democratically controlled water systems for all.
Who you are
The rampant abuses of corporations and the outrageous amount of power they have make you mad as hell–and you want to do something about it.
You have a commitment to advancing racial equity and dismantling systems of oppression, and are ready to do this in your day-to-day work. You understand that campaigning for justice must include working to dismantle white supremacy, institutional racism, colonialism, and anti-Blackness.
You are an organizer and campaigner to your core, and you have a deep understanding of power dynamics—including how your own position affects those dynamics. You thrive on building authentic relationships; you know trust is earned and you know how to earn it. You know how grassroots campaigning can impact powerful institutions, how to develop tactics that connect to overall strategies, how to move people to action—all the while paying close and thoughtful attention to complex cultural, political, and interpersonal dynamics.
You're an experienced project manager. You know how to develop systems, tools, and processes to get your team from point A to point B. Your keen eye for detail helps keep things on track -- but when unanticipated challenges arise, you're skilled at navigating changed conditions to move your team toward success.
You know how to craft a strong campaign plan from goals to tactics, and expertly facilitate meetings and processes to implement your plan. You can bring together a group of diverse participants, build on shared goals and visions, and work toward strategic outcomes. You are skilled at keeping things moving, while also knowing when it’s necessary to slow down; you know how to delegate effectively.
You know the power of compelling communication and have the skills to craft engaging written content that moves people to action.
Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese language skills are a bonus.
You have 3 -5 years of experience in social justice organizing or other relevant fields.
What you’ll be responsible for in the day-to-day
Play a lead role in water campaign coordination, including leading strategic planning meetings internally and with allies, internal coordination huddles, and coalition calls. Given the international scope of our campaign, you will be working across timezones.
Provide robust administrative and coordination support. This includes a lead role in the campaign budgeting process and cash flow management, coordination with key partners on joint fundraising priorities such as foundation proposals, review of campaign materials, and project management.
Collaborate with team and key allies to develop and implement strategies and tactics to challenge water privatization and advance the human right to water.
Organize closely with our lead partners in Nigeria, local activists on the African continent, and organizers and activists in cities in the U.S. challenging water privatization in their communities, helping ensure access to the logistical, technological, research, and communications support necessary to run successful campaign actions.
Partner with people from public officials to local activists to international allies to monitor, develop, and seize opportunities to stop water privatization and build international visibility and solidarity with water justice struggles around the world.
Represent the organization at ally convenings, in policymaking spaces, and with our members.
Actively participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, racial equity work, recruitment, and campaign activities.
Salary and benefits :
Salary range: $52,500- $55,100 commensurate with experience.
Our comprehensive benefit package includes: health insurance (with 90% of the premium for all tiers covered by the organization) and dental coverage (with 100% of the individual premium covered by the organization and the option to add dependents at an additional cost); FSA for transit, health care, and dependent care; and 401(k) with employer match.
Generous vacation, sick time, and holiday policies.
Both internal and external training and leadership development opportunities.
Energetic, collaborative, and social campaign environment.

What you’ll do
Corporate Accountability wages powerful campaigns challenging corporate power—and behind every campaign victory you’ll find a dynamic operations team that provides the back-end, behind-the-scenes support to ensure victory. Effective, efficient, and secure tech and finance operations make it possible for our organizers and allies to wage hard-hitting tactics that are helping to end corporate abuse.
Whether it’s supporting allies in Africa to implement tech security, or processing the donations we receive from donors around the country, your work will require creativity, patience, and an obsessive attention to detail. You’re going to get to know everyone in the organization and many external partners as you collaborate with them on their tech and operations needs.
From responding to troubleshooting requests to teaching new skills to improving and maintaining systems, you’ll be the go-to tech and operations organizer that helps make big change happen in the world.
This position provides ample room to grow. Whether you’re looking to develop skills in database management, technology, finance, or administration, you will have plenty of opportunities to build new skills and follow your passion as you advance our mission.
Who you are

You have a commitment to advancing racial equity and transforming systems of oppression, and are ready to do this in your day-to-day work. You understand that campaigning for justice must include working to dismantle white supremacy, institutional racism, colonialism, and anti-Blackness.
You are down with technology and troubleshooting. Most likely you’re the one your grandma/uncle/colleagues/friends call when they’re in a technological quandary. And you love to help them figure it out, big or small. You’re patient and a good trainer. Plus, you’re an early adopter and eager to test out and learn new apps and systems whenever you can.
You have experience maintaining systems and managing projects from start to finish. You can meet deadlines and collaborate with colleagues to move a project along. When something doesn’t go as planned, you’re ready to adapt and adjust to get back on track.
You’re a numbers person—organizing spreadsheets, managing data, and keeping track of every last detail brings you great satisfaction—maybe even joy…
…and you’re also a people person. You’re an organizer at heart and maybe by training, and you have experience working with a wide range of people from various racial and cultural backgrounds. You know that connecting with and training people means being a good listener as well as an adept communicator.
You have 1-3 years of experience at a nonprofit, preferably with a background in IT, finance, administration, organizing, or other relevant fields.

Help keep everyone connected in our in-person and remote workplaces. You’ll provide technical support and training to staff, interns, contractors, and allies across the globe on multiple operating systems and computer software, web apps, communications apps, video conferencing, and other needs.
Maintain systems, including computers, phones, networks, and servers, managing the day-to-day operations of these processes.
Implement and maintain the organization’s security measures.
