PeopleTec is currently seeking a Technical Writer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

Our fast-paced Business Development Team is looking for a Technical Writer with experience in the development of compliant and compelling federal proposals. The successful applicant will be a proactive "go-getter" and must be able to work well as part of a team.

Job Duties:

  • Write, review, edit, and recommend changes to proposals, white papers, Request for Information (RFI) responses, Sources Sought submissions, and other technical documents
    • Requires in-depth knowledge of English grammar and readability and effectiveness of language
    • Requires experience in document design and desktop publishing
  • Must be adept at interviewing Subject Matter Experts and writing and reviewing technical material for inclusion in technical responses
    • Requires utilization of all available sources of information such as engineers, engineering reports, schematics, diagrams, and past proposals and technical documentation in the preparation and review of submissions
  • Work with Graphics Team to employ a variety of charts, diagrams, and other visual aids to help communicate technical concepts
  • Create writing templates and other proposal tools, such as document outlines and compliance matrices
  • Research and understand Statements of Work (SOWs)/Performance Work Statements (PWSs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), RFIs, and other proposal requests from US Government customers and prime contractors/teammates
  • Coordinate with corporate leadership on proposal development and proposal development processes, documentation development and improvement, and miscellaneous assignments as required
  • Support proposal and proposal development projects from conception to production
  • Update and maintain proposal repository (i.e., manage historical proposals along with supporting documentation, such as Past Performance citations, appraisal reports, certification praises, customer accolades, etc.)
  • Support capture managers coordinating and preparing documents
  • Coordinate efforts across several projects simultaneously

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Software skills to include Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Experience using SharePoint in proposal development/maintenance
  • Understanding of Federal Request for Proposal (RFP) process
  • BD knowledge/experience
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Advanced document design and desktop publishing skills
    • Should be able to solve visual problems and challenges regarding formatting, graphics, overall documentation's appearance, etc.
  • Flexibility to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional internal and external customer service orientation with ability to interface with proposal stakeholders to meet proposal deadlines
  • Experience coordinating and liaising among several parties on a single project
  • Capable of conducting independent analyses, evaluation, and assessment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires exceptionally meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Secret level DoD Clearance

Education Requirements:

A completed bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or a related field to the position with 5+ years of relevant work experience. 5+ years of proposal development working within the DoD is highly preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • HIGHLY PROFICIENT in Technical Editing and MS Word
  • In-depth knowledge of desktop publishing and document design
  • Familiarity with or training in Shipley proposal development methods
  • Secret Clearance (or the ability to obtain one)
  • APMP certification would be viewed favorably
  • Experience in multiple roles within the proposal development process
