Job Description

Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part-time position of Student Services Welcome Specialist on the Palm Bay Campus in Palm Bay, Florida.

The Student Services Welcome Specialist will greet visitors upon entering the Student Services Center. They will provide students with general information regarding admissions, placement testing, registration, advising and financial aid. New students and returning students will utilize the specialist to guide them to the appropriate offices located within the Center.  The Specialist will also provide information regarding various offices and departments on the campus and college-wide and will provide the public with information regarding campus activities and events.

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One to two years’ experience working in a College setting or Business Office or in providing direct customer service support.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and strong ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to work in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student population.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and/or data from a computer - especially strong internet research skills.
  • Must have a valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with disabilities unable to obtain a driver’s license.  In such cases, a valid Florida I.D. is required.
  • This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay (currently $37.25). This fingerprinting fee ($37.25) is non-refundable.

*High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment.  All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

Minimum physical qualifications:

  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.

The hourly rate is $10.00.  This position has been approved for up to 28 hours per week.  This position is eligible for regular part-time benefits (i.e. vacation, life insurance, etc.).
