Position Title : Chief Development Officer

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer.
We are seeking an experienced, energetic and highly organized Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and implement a strategic development plan. This is a key role in helping to grow the organization. The successful candidate will be analytical and creative, collaborate, coordinate and manage multiple projects. Essential Functions: The CDO provides strategic leadership for the planning, implementation, evaluation, integration, and administration of the development department. The CDO is responsible for achieving the organization’s revenue goals, increasing income, and educating and engaging more individuals and institutions in the to advance the organization’s mission. The CDO is part of a skilled team of professionals working to raise at least $10 million annually. The CDO manages a multi-faceted fundraising program; central to this role will be prioritizing personal solicitation of major donors, events, online and direct marketing, and foundation fundraising.
Duties:
Work closely with the CEO to establish fundraising goals, set strategic priorities, advise on program development, and develop and meet annual budget
Work closely in collaboration with the Boards of Directors to engage them more deeply in the fundraising process and to help cultivate a strong relationship between board members and the organization
Tracks cultivation and prospecting activity and ensure the execution of action items
Solicit contributions from major individual donors and steward long-term relationships with donors
Develop relationships with prospective individuals and foundation donors to increase funding
Research prospective institutional and individual funders
Works with internal partners to draft and edit proposals and reports
Tracks proposal and reporting deadlines, ensure that all submitted materials are accurate and comply with any funder requirements
Manages all grant activity in a central database and deliver regular reports to the CEO
Serves as the point person for management and maintenance of funders database and ensure efficient system utilization across all units
Oversee the implementation of ongoing programs to improve the renewal rates of existing annual donors, creatively use events to upgrade donors and maintain a diversity of revenue
Develops annual budgets and income projections
Maintains abreast of political and philanthropic trends and ensure that Board and staff are informed of changes in legislation and other trends and initiatives that might impact giving

Travel Requirements: This position may at times require frequent travel throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000/year
Commensurate according to years of experience. All employees must meet a 6-month probationary period. Continuation of this position after one year is dependent on the successful candidate meeting jointly determined performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

In this position, you will work with community members and leaders in developing water cleanup projects to address known water quality challenges. You will find solutions to water quality challenges, connect with the local communities, and discuss the science of water quality along with the influences of land use on water quality. Your responsibilities will also include developing Advance Restoration projects (ARP) and Straight To Implementation (STI) projects to shorten the timelines for water quality improvement. You will primarily cover the Yakima River Watershed, which extends from the snowpacks on the Cascade crest to the dry and near desert conditions of the Columbia River Valley. The variety of environmental conditions of Central Washington provides variety in environmental work and recreational opportunities. The Central Region also tends to be an affordable and uncrowded region of Washington.
What you will do:
Become familiar with and knowledgeable about the watershed that you are working in, including the land uses and characteristics of the communities within the watersheds.
Involve key interest groups and organizations to effectively conduct technical studies, develop water quality implementation control strategies, and write TMDLs to protect and restore impaired waters.
Coordinate and communicate with Tribes, local governments and other watershed groups during the development and implementation of TMDL, ARP, or STI projects.
Monitor and report on progress of implementation measures toward meeting water quality standards as specified in the water cleanup plans.
Represent Ecology at legal and public hearings and conferences regarding Water Cleanup Plans.
Conduct or provide support to the CRO Watershed Unit on non-point pollution voluntary corrective actions as well as formal regulatory enforcement efforts for non-point pollution issues. Position Overview

Evidence of ongoing development of personal cultural awareness and humility, and knowledge of social determinants of health and their impacts on health outcomes.
Knowledge of health services delivery systems, particularly Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid administration.
Experience developing, documenting, monitoring, or improving workflows, procedures, tracking systems, or administrative processes to strengthen efficiency and support continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability of advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and use of collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and Smartsheet.
Ability to work collaboratively in team environments. Excellent customer service and strong oral and written communication skills across a variety of forums using a person-centered, equity-centered, and culturally responsive approach.
Skill in performing a variety of functions at a program support level requiring synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information from multiple sources and decision making within established rules, policies, or procedures.
Ability to interpret, explain, and provide technical assistance on agency procedures, administrative policies, business processes, and operational guidelines.
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, time-management, and critical thinking skills, including managing multiple assignments, balancing competing deadlines, and elevating issues needing further review.
