Position Summary: Supervises, oversees, and participates in the daily operation of the Fleet repair facility including semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment, including light, medium, and heavy-duty automobiles, trucks, off-road construction equipment, patrol cars, and fire apparatus. Performs skilled mechanical tasks involving the maintenance and repair of complex City vehicles and equipment. This position provides functional leadership on the most complex maintenance tasks as well as program coordination in key areas of the service shop. Job Summary
This position diagnoses problems and makes mechanical repairs to all types of equipment used in roadway and parts maintenance and performs vehicular maintenance for all county departments. The Technician at times will be working in the field three or more hours per shift servicing equipment. This is a journey level position requiring experience in welding and fabrication, maintaining gas and diesel truck engines, and hydraulically operated equipment. Major duties include: inspecting, diagnosing, and making repairs to road construction and grounds maintenance equipment and automotive fleet; and designing, modifying, repairing, and installing hydraulic systems and components. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a journey level equipment/vehicle Technician Certified vocational course work or training relating to repair and maintenance of various fleet equipment may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Five (5) years of experience working on diesel truck engines and hydraulically operated equipment is highly desirable.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License Class A with air brake and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) endorsement and passenger endorsement, within one (1) month of hire.
Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.
Any combination of education, experience, and training that would demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.

Job Summary
This position diagnoses problems and makes mechanical repairs to all types of equipment used in roadway and parts maintenance and performs vehicular maintenance for all county departments. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a journey level equipment/vehicle Technician Certified vocational course work or training relating to repair and maintenance of various fleet equipment may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Five (5) years of experience working on diesel truck engines and hydraulically operated equipment is highly desirable.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License Class A with air brake and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) endorsement and passenger endorsement, within one (1) month of hire.
Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.
Any combination of education, experience, and training that would demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.

Job Summary:
The Necropsy Technician will perform various activities in support of the Pathology & Diagnostics team including gross necropsy, histopathology (trimming of cases), and support of the biobank archives. They will assist in the collection, analysis, storage, and shipment of samples for collaborative research projects as well as the training of pathology participants of the Teaching Hospital program and The Marine Mammal Center’s visitors.
Essential Functions:
Necropsy: 60 %
Assist basic necropsy laboratory procedures as described necropsy and sampling protocols for dissection, specimen photography, specimen collection, data collection, necropsy report writing, and data entry.
Assist basic necropsy procedures (basic dissection, tissue collection/preservation, tissue trimming, sample collection, etc.) on marine mammals or sea turtles.
Completes data entry into the Center’s in-house electronic record system (Ruby) as assigned. This can include archives, samples received and shipped, and tracking documentation, as well as entry of laboratory results for patient records as assigned.
Pull data and samples, and ship according to biohazard shipment regulations for pathology ancillary testing and approved internal or external research projects as assigned.
Supports the maintenance of the necropsy facility, equipment, consumable supplies, PPE, signage, and hygiene following USDA good laboratory practice (GLP) standards.
Follows proper adherence to biosafety procedures and protocols in accordance with OSHA and internal policies.
Sample and fulfill approved external and internal research projects through sample processing, data entry, and shipment.
Maintain pathology digital photo archive, including taking necropsy and histopathology photos in accordance with protocols and after training.
Assists in the disposal of carcasses, and biohazard tissues.

Perform basic histology laboratory procedures including trimming wet histopathology tissues as assigned
Supports the maintenance of the histopathology biobank (wet tissues, slides, paraffin blocks) including shipping and receiving samples, sample preparation, and data entry in Ruby.
Assists in disposal of wet tissue, formalin, and decal.
Training & Educational Outreach: 10%
Assists with training Teaching Hospital Program participants and pathology visitors in gross necropsy skills and anatomy.
Assists with scheduling of and may assist in teaching wet labs and workshops for visiting Learning participants.
Assists in coordinating shipments for specimen requests and relationships for teaching (e.g. carcasses, pelts, etc.) as well as necropsy workshops, wet labs, carcasses for teaching, etc.
Assists with the maintenance of Teaching Hospital Program materials regarding pathology

Working in outdoor weather conditions and elements may be required for field necropsies.

Job Summary:
The Necropsy Technician will perform various activities in support of the Pathology & Diagnostics team including gross necropsy, histopathology (trimming of cases), and support of the biobank archives. They will assist in the collection, analysis, storage, and shipment of samples for collaborative research projects as well as the training of pathology participants of the Teaching Hospital program and The Marine Mammal Center’s visitors.
Essential Functions:
Necropsy: 60 %
Assist basic necropsy laboratory procedures as described necropsy and sampling protocols for dissection, specimen photography, specimen collection, data collection, necropsy report writing, and data entry.
Assist basic necropsy procedures (basic dissection, tissue collection/preservation, tissue trimming, sample collection, etc.) on marine mammals or sea turtles.
Completes data entry into the Center’s in-house electronic record system (Ruby) as assigned. This can include archives, samples received and shipped, and tracking documentation, as well as entry of laboratory results for patient records as assigned.
Pull data and samples, and ship according to biohazard shipment regulations for pathology ancillary testing and approved internal or external research projects as assigned.
Supports the maintenance of the necropsy facility, equipment, consumable supplies, PPE, signage, and hygiene following USDA good laboratory practice (GLP) standards.
Follows proper adherence to biosafety procedures and protocols in accordance with OSHA and internal policies.
Sample and fulfill approved external and internal research projects through sample processing, data entry, and shipment.
Maintain pathology digital photo archive, including taking necropsy and histopathology photos in accordance with protocols and after training.

Position Summary: Supervises, oversees, and participates in the daily operation of the Fleet repair facility including semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair of City vehicles and equipment, including light, medium, and heavy-duty automobiles, trucks, off-road construction equipment, patrol cars, and fire apparatus. Position Qualifications
Education : Associate’s degree (or higher) or graduation from an accredited vocational tech program in Automotive Systems Technology, Automotive Repair, Gasoline or Diesel Technology, or a related field. Experience : Five (5) years of experience in emergency vehicle, medium/heavy truck, or equipment repair and maintenance; two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably within a local municipality. Licenses and Certifications : Must have a combination of 12 certifications (ASE or EVT). Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Truck & Automotive Certification, and/or Master Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification, preferred. Job Summary
This position diagnoses problems and makes mechanical repairs to all types of equipment used in roadway and parts maintenance and performs vehicular maintenance for all county departments. The Technician at times will be working in the field three or more hours per shift servicing equipment. This is a journey level position requiring experience in welding and fabrication, maintaining gas and diesel truck engines, and hydraulically operated equipment. Major duties include: inspecting, diagnosing, and making repairs to road construction and grounds maintenance equipment and automotive fleet; and designing, modifying, repairing, and installing hydraulic systems and components.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a journey level equipment/vehicle Technician Certified vocational course work or training relating to repair and maintenance of various fleet equipment may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Five (5) years of experience working on diesel truck engines and hydraulically operated equipment is highly desirable.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License Class A with air brake and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) endorsement and passenger endorsement, within one (1) month of hire.
Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.

Job Summary
This position diagnoses problems and makes mechanical repairs to all types of equipment used in roadway and parts maintenance and performs vehicular maintenance for all county departments. The Technician at times will be working in the field three or more hours per shift servicing equipment. This is a journey level position requiring experience in welding and fabrication, maintaining gas and diesel truck engines, and hydraulically operated equipment. Major duties include: inspecting, diagnosing, and making repairs to road construction and grounds maintenance equipment and automotive fleet; and designing, modifying, repairing, and installing hydraulic systems and components.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a journey level equipment/vehicle Technician Certified vocational course work or training relating to repair and maintenance of various fleet equipment may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Five (5) years of experience working on diesel truck engines and hydraulically operated equipment is highly desirable.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License Class A with air brake and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) endorsement and passenger endorsement, within one (1) month of hire.
Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.
Any combination of education, experience, and training that would demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.
Knowledge of: Gas and diesel truck engines and hydraulically operated equipment; mechanical repair and preventive maintenance.
Ability to: Independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of diesel trucks; read and comprehend service and equipment manuals; operate large and small equipment, motor vehicles, and tools in a safe and efficient manner; work independently in the performance of regular duties; accurately and neatly record and maintain a variety of data.

Grinds and seats valves; checks guides for wear and springs for tension and breakage.
Replaces injectors and fuel pump and re-assembles to specifications.
Checks manual and automatic transmissions and replaces bearings, gears and forks if necessary.
Pulls wheels and replaces or repacks wheel bearings and refaces or replaces drums; replaces brake lining and shoes; repairs air cans and checks systems for leaks; repairs air compressors and air governors.
Operates such shop equipment as grinders, AC recovery, vacuum gauge, voltage and regulator tester, wheel balancer, drill press, wheel pullers, lathes, jacks air tools, scope, dwell meter, timing light and various diagnostic hand tools and other equipment used in automotive repairs and diagnoses.
Performs electronic tune-ups and adjustments and uses a variety of diagnostic machines.
Designs, modifies, and installs hydraulic systems and other special accessories to the equipment on hand.
Maintains shop records.
May do some machinist, welder or blacksmith work; may do specialized work, such as body repair and painting.
Road tests vehicles after repair.
Supervises the work of apprentice mechanics.
Perform work as required on boats, outboard motors, out-drives and related marine equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Responsible for performing semi-skilled to skilled work in the preventive maintenance, repair, maintenance and installation of water and sewer lines, utility easements/rights-of-way (ROW) and appurtenances. An employee in this class performs routine manual labor in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines, meters, hydrants, easements/ROW, and other appurtenances. Work is generally performed as part of a work team to maintain and repair water distribution and sewer collection infrastructure. Work is performed under the direction of the Line Maintenance Crew Leader and Utility Systems Supervisor and is evaluated by visual inspection of work, periodic meetings, compliance with safety procedures, and overall quantity and quality of work performed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates mini-excavators, skid steers with bush hog attachment, dump trucks (varying sizes), vibratory trencher rollers, vibratory foot tamps, chainsaws, weed-eaters, backhoe and various other types of equipment used in the repair and maintenance of water distribution, sewer collections systems and associated appurtenances.
Operates tapping machine to make water, sewer taps and service connections.
Installs water and sewer pipeline; repairs and replaces water lines, sewer lines and related appurtenances.
Installs water and sewer services including meters, cleanout, etc.
Maintains water and sewer rights-of-way as required.
Installs hydrants, meters, valves, repair clamps and related pipeline apparatus; sets meter boxes; and repairs and replaces fire hydrants.
Performs landscaping and surface restoration at job site.
Runs errands, picks up supplies and materials.
Performs other utilities and general services work as assigned.
Will be required to work outside normal work hours in an emergency or on-call basis.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LINE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I - Grade 10
Salary Range: $39,072.15 - $59,457.66
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalency; preferred experience in water distribution system or wastewater collection system repair, maintenance and/or construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications:
Possession of a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
Must be certified at the NC Grade 1 Sewer Collection System Operator or NC Grade C Water Distribution System Operator certification; or ability to obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment.
Flagger Certification required or have the ability to acquire within 12-months of hire date into this position.
Trenching and Shoring Certification or have the ability to acquire within 12-months of hire date into this position.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LINE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II - Grade 12
Salary Range: $43,077.05 - $65,552.06
Education and Experience:
