What is an On-Call Maintenance Specialist? The Maintenance Specialist Assists in the care and maintenance of assigned property in an on-call and year-round basis.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or Program Supervisor at each program location, the On-Call Youth Counselor for Adolescent Housing Services is responsible for the daily management of the program site. All Housing programs are open 24/7 and per agency licensing requirements, program must maintain safe staff and client ratio to provide services to our clients. Youth Counselor's task is to create a safe and caring environment for high risk youth in residence who are preparing to transition to become more self-sufficient. Depending on program needs, at designated times, prepare and cook meals for up to 20 clients.
Attend and fully participate in training sessions as required by program contracts (a minimum of 24 hours is required per year for Pathways, Hope Center, and Adolescent Shelter. A minimum of 40 hours per year is required for Casa).
Respond to program leadership for shift openings. Must provide monthly availability for at least three shifts per month.
Read and Complete daily progress notes, emails, logbook, and any other tracking documentation of provided client services.

ABOUT CASA DE LOS AMIGOS: This program has 2 locations and 20 beds, serving clients ages 12-17, who have been placed in the program by the Office of Refugee Resettlement Department of Unaccompanied Children's Services (ORR / DUCS).
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Engagement Specialist is responsible for the daily management of the program site. All housing programs are open 24/7 and per agency licensing requirements, program must maintain safe staff and client ratio to provide services to our clients. In conjunction with other staff, the Engagement Specialist’s task is to create a safe and caring environment for vulnerable young people in residence who are preparing to transition to become more self- sufficient. The position requires an individual who can actively contribute to a positive, stable, responsive, and responsible environment for change.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build trust and rapport with young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability, young people who have experienced sexual exploitation and/or young people who are at risk.
Engage, support, coach, and develop young people using healing-centered engagement practices and a strength-based approach.
Provide on-site supervision, while maintaining professional boundaries in providing crisis intervention and services to young people. Must learn and apply positive behavior modification techniques and model effective de-escalation, problem-solving and mediation skills. Be willing to intervene in times of crisis using these skills.
Complete necessary paperwork and data collection, including intake, enrollment, case notes as needed. Additionally complete Incident reports and/or Significant Incident Reports within the required timeframe on any facility damage, medical emergencies, client's welfare and/or any incident which occurs out of the ordinary functioning of the site.
Maintain accurate and timely case records, progress notes, logbooks, and other types of documentation and enter data into YouthCare’s CaseWorthy client management system according to agency standards.

Work collaboratively with other YouthCare programs, families, school district professionals, crisis services personnel, and staff from other agencies in support of youth.
Communicate client needs and behaviors to the appropriate staff, and refer young people to appropriate and necessary services, as needed.
Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the facility, including disinfecting surfaces and following cleaning protocols in the staff office, restrooms, laundry room, the community room/milieu, school, and client rooms. All housing programs are open 24/7 and per agency licensing requirements, program must maintain safe staff and client ratio to provide services to our clients. In conjunction with other staff, the Engagement Specialist’s task is to create a safe and caring environment for vulnerable young people in residence who are preparing to transition to become more self- sufficient. The position requires an individual who can actively contribute to a positive, stable, responsive, and responsible environment for change.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build trust and rapport with young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability, young people who have experienced sexual exploitation and/or young people who are at risk.
Engage, support, coach, and develop young people using healing-centered engagement practices and a strength-based approach.
Provide on-site supervision, while maintaining professional boundaries in providing crisis intervention and services to young people. Must learn and apply positive behavior modification techniques and model effective de-escalation, problem-solving and mediation skills. Be willing to intervene in times of crisis using these skills.
Complete necessary paperwork and data collection, including intake, enrollment, case notes as needed. Additionally complete Incident reports and/or Significant Incident Reports within the required timeframe on any facility damage, medical emergencies, client's welfare and/or any incident which occurs out of the ordinary functioning of the site.
Maintain accurate and timely case records, progress notes, logbooks, and other types of documentation and enter data into YouthCare’s CaseWorthy client management system according to agency standards.
Execute Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) tasks and accreditation standards and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
Comply with Agency, Licensing and ORR’s mandated reporting requirement and report suspected abuse, neglect, or sexual exploitation of minors within the required timeframe.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all site staff, partners, and volunteers to create a nurturing, dynamic, and constructive environment for young people.
Support with coordination of basic needs, inclusion of meals, referrals to systems of support, clothing, etc.
Develop and deliver group and individual programming to foster life and social skill development. Programming provides an opportunity for youth and young adults to engage, increase knowledge and skills, and moves young people toward the agency’s four core outcomes - housing stability, financial independence, community support, and wellness.
Work collaboratively with other YouthCare programs, families, school district professionals, crisis services personnel, and staff from other agencies in support of youth.
Communicate client needs and behaviors to the appropriate staff, and refer young people to appropriate and necessary services, as needed.
Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the facility, including disinfecting surfaces and following cleaning protocols in the staff office, restrooms, laundry room, the community room/milieu, school, and client rooms. Perform light janitorial work, including vacuuming/sweeping/mopping; taking out trash; and similar tasks, as outlined by site need and agency protocols. Compile maintenance requests and submit to program leadership/maintenance staff as needed
Participate in regular supervision, client consultations, and staff and agency meetings. Attend and fully participate in meetings, professional development opportunities, and designated training sessions as required.
Obtain and maintain certifications for all required trainings and certifications (including Food Handler’s License, BBP, CPR / First Aid, De-escalation, Mental Health First AID).
Act as a professional representative of YouthCare and maintain a professional working environment (office, personal workspace, agency vehicle, etc.).
Maintains a flexible work schedule (filing shifts on weekends, early and/or late hours) and must be willing to be cross-trained in providing support with shift coverage in on-call basis for the program and the agency, as required by individual program needs.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all client-related data is accurate and updated in the ORR UC Portal, current program documentation system and/or other database(s). Additionally, completing capacity management through Okta-HHS, if working grave hours.
Dispense medication (as needed), and complete related documentation. Perform medical reconciliation and update med binder forms and complete all required documentation according to individual program procedures and timelines.
Contact advice nurse and/or take clients for urgent medical care, as needed.
Maintain an awareness of client whereabouts and line of site supervision, as required. Complete room, bed and safety checks at required intervals and complete required documentation
At designated times, prepare and cook meals for up to 20 residents and staff. Ensure food pantries and fridge are organized and free of expired foods.
Complete discharge procedures: transport clients to the airport for reunification (as needed).
Provide transportation for outings and client appointments; operate the agency vehicle in accordance with law and in a safe manner.
Assist in packing client belongings and cleaning and sanitizing exited bedrooms, and prepping bedrooms for incoming clients.
Immediately report to supervisor on-call any incident which threatens child welfare or is a licensing violation.

Oversee difficult or complex assignments in landscape maintenance, facility and utility system maintenance, repair and rehabilitation and new construction. Such assignments may require blueprint and contract reading, carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, masonry, asphalting, painting and other construction knowledge or skills.
Work with the district manager and OPRD staff to effectively manage natural and cultural resources within OPRD guidelines and in a manner which will protect resource values, especially native plants and rare, threatened and endangered species, significant wetlands, and cultural or historic properties contained on park lands within the Sunset Bay Management Unit.

As a Park Ranger 1, you'll be on the front lines of park maintenance, resource stewardship and customer interaction. State parks will rely on you to help create memorable experiences for park guests. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations.
What you will do! You will work at Bullards Beach State Park near Bandon, Oregon. This recruitment is for one , full-time, permanent , SEIU represented position and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. As a Park Ranger 1 you will perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs.
The following duties may be performed, but are not limited to:
Visitor Services (15%)
Register overnight campers and prepare reports using computerized reservation system
Provide information about local attractions and Oregon State Parks, park rules and regulations;
Facility Maintenance (10%)
Use hand and power construction tools to remove vegetation, cut and fill contours, prepare and finish trail crowns, install water bars, culverts and footbridges and apply gravel or wood chip surfaces;
Construct, maintain and restore footbridges, footpaths, parking areas and curbs, signs, posts and cluster structures, water fountains, permanent and portable tables and benches, fireplaces and barbecue stoves, wastewater disposals, campsite utility (water, sewer and electrical) connections, bulletin boards;
Building Maintenance and Construction (10%)
Maintain and repair building plumbing systems, structural elements, fixtures, and electical systems.
Paint buildings and other structures.
General Park Operations (10%)
Give direction to individuals or teams composed of permanent, seasonal, and/or temporary State Park employees, Department of Corrections inmates, juvenile inmates, court appointed volunteers and other group or individual volunteers;
Clean and properly store equipment, tools, and vehicles. Perform minor repairs or adjustments.
Utility System Maintenance and Construction (20%)
Maintain water distribution and treatment, and wastewater collection and treatment systems in good operating order;
Identify and repair water and sewer system breakdowns;
Landscape Maintenance (5%)
Mow lawns and fields, trim turf edges with hand or power tools;
Prune trees, shrubs, and rough brush;
Apply pesticides manually or, if licensed, with power equipment.
Custodial Maintenance (10%)
Clean rest rooms, showers, bathhouses, observation buildings, maintenance shops and interpretive centers;
Pick up and properly dispose of litter;
Park Patrol, Safety and Rule Enforcement (10%)
Patrol park areas for misuse and hazardous situations, and take appropriate action;
Seek voluntary visitor compliance with park area rules and regulations; issue verbal and written warnings;
Issue citations for rule violations; prepare related reports; testify in court; issue notices of exclusion.
Resource Interpretation, Conservation, and Beach Patrol (5%)
Participate in approved, standard practices relating to the conservation, preservation and protection of significant natural or scenic resources.
Assist with larger special events, activities, or programs and in training and program feedback for volunteer interpretive hosts.
Contact ocean shore visitors, schools, community and youth organizations, fraternal and service clubs to provide information about ocean safety, recreation opportunities, ecosystems, rules and regulations, visitor education and support;
Other Duties (5%)
Conduct and coordinate volunteer activities within the management unit: recruit, schedule and train park hosts, individual volunteers and volunteer groups, ensure that required forms, records and reports are completed, coordinate volunteer projects and activities to meet park needs, provide information relating to volunteer performance to management;
Participate in organizing, coordinating and facilitating OPRD-partnership, sponsored or special events, activities or programs.
Minimum Qualifications :
Two years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping). OR
An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 6 months of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
NOTE: A higher level degree may substitute for the Associate's degree. There is no substitute for the 6 months experience.
Desired Attributes :
Experience in the operation and maintenance of park utility systems (water and wastewater)
Skill in "verbal judo" or similar tactical communications method
Experience in park resource and facility operations and maintenance
Skill in evaluating situations, applying rules and guidelines, determining and carrying out appropriate courses of action to achieve desired results
Skill in diagnosing maintenance and operation problems, breakdowns and disruptions; and in initiating and carrying out solutions
Experience providing inclusive customer service while working with the public or in a public setting
Ability to adjust to shifting priorities and stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and positive attitude
