Responsibilities
Museum Attendants will work a variety of assigned posts and events in all buildings on the museum grounds and at The Asolo Repertory Theater, as well as patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by golf cart. Museum Attendants are responsible for the safety of all staff and visitors and the protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds. This position will occasionally utilize computers to write reports, send correspondences, and submit work orders.
Duties will include:
Guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage.
Assisting with urgent/emergency situations, such as accidents/injuries, medical emergencies, theft, vandalism, and other incidents calmly and in a timely manner.
Conducting daily inspections of assigned areas and escorting staff and guests.
Monitoring visitor activity to ensure adherence to museum/Asolo policies and procedures.
Customer service oriented at all times to include enforcing policies and interacting with guests, briefly responding to visitor/staff requests and questions to the best of their ability in a courteous manner, and/or directing them to where they can find the information.
Qualifications
High school diploma/equivalent required.
Customer Service skills in assisting visitors and patrons of the museum by providing direction to various locations of the buildings and or grounds and answering general questions, as needed.
Experience in handling and addressing policy violations and conflict resolution.
Ability to utilize computers to write reports, send correspondences, and submit work orders, as needed.
Ability to quickly learn and apply campus rules and regulations related to work performed.
A valid driver's license is required.
Note: Learner's Permits are not acceptable.
Helpful
Skills listed below would be helpful in this role, but are not required for hire. Please note all training will be provided by The Ringling.
Previous customer service experience.
Experience in a museum, cultural institution, or non-profit organization.

Museum Attendants will work a variety of assigned posts and events in all buildings on the museum grounds and at The Asolo Repertory Theater, as well as patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by golf cart. Museum Attendants are responsible for the safety of all staff and visitors and the protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds. This position will occasionally utilize computers to write reports, send correspondences, and submit work orders.
Duties will include:
- Guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage.
- Assisting with urgent/emergency situations, such as accidents/injuries, medical emergencies, theft, vandalism, and other incidents calmly and in a timely manner.
- Conducting daily inspections of assigned areas and escorting staff and guests.
- Monitoring visitor activity to ensure adherence to museum/Asolo policies and procedures.
- Customer service oriented at all times to include enforcing policies and interacting with guests, briefly responding to visitor/staff requests and questions to the best of their ability in a courteous manner, and/or directing them to where they can find the information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/equivalent required.
- A valid driver's license is required. Note: Learner's permits are not acceptable.

Biweekly working schedule is the following:
- Week 1 working 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday, Monday, and Thursday.

Weekends, evenings, and holidays will be required based the needs of the Ringling.

Daily Tasks would include:
Following the Ringling Security Operating Guidelines. Patrolling the campus and guarding against theft, vandalism and other occurrences, potential or actual, which could result in loss or damage to the collection.
Performing routine inspections of assigned posts/venues. Utilizing a golf cart, multi-line telephone and two-way radio. Monitoring parking areas and surrounding exterior areas of venues.
Serves as alternate Surveillance Operator for the Surveillance Operation Center (SOC). Monitoring conditions on campus and communicates important information with the appropriate personnel. Utilizing electronic security systems, access control points, closed circuit video systems, fire and weather monitoring systems, and computers.
Responding to incidents and emergencies, which may require the ability to walk significant distances and or climb/descend stairs quickly. Assisting individuals involved in accidents or when injured on campus. Assisting in execution of emergency plans concerning evacuation of venues in the event of fire, disasters, or other emergency situations.
Preparing written reports of accidents, incidents, and general conditions as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. In the absence of the Security Shift Supervisor, the incumbent may supervise, direct and monitor the performance of security personnel in their duties and assist when necessary.
Qualifications
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position including, but not limited to, the ability to walk significant distances and or climb/descend stairs quickly in order to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities
Daily Tasks would include:
Following the Ringling Security Operating Guidelines. Patrolling the campus and guarding against theft, vandalism and other occurrences, potential or actual, which could result in loss or damage to the collection.
Performing routine inspections of assigned posts/venues. Utilizing a golf cart, multi-line telephone and two-way radio. Monitoring parking areas and surrounding exterior areas of venues.
Serves as alternate Surveillance Operator for the Surveillance Operation Center (SOC). Monitoring conditions on campus and communicates important information with the appropriate personnel. Utilizing electronic security systems, access control points, closed circuit video systems, fire and weather monitoring systems, and computers.
Responding to incidents and emergencies, which may require the ability to walk significant distances and or climb/descend stairs quickly. Assisting individuals involved in accidents or when injured on campus. Assisting in execution of emergency plans concerning evacuation of venues in the event of fire, disasters, or other emergency situations.
Preparing written reports of accidents, incidents, and general conditions as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. In the absence of the Security Shift Supervisor, the incumbent may supervise, direct and monitor the performance of security personnel in their duties and assist when necessary.
Qualifications
Completion of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Valid Florida Driver’s license or ability to obtain prior to hire.
Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position including but not limited to the ability to walk significant distances and or climb/descend stairs quickly in order to respond to emergencies.
Ability to differentiate emergency from non-emergency situations.

Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time, walk significant distances, patrol multi-story buildings, and climb stairs to respond to emergencies.
Must be able to calmly respond to emergencies.
Must be skilled in customer service as this is a front line position that interacts with and provides information to the visiting public.
Must present a professional image in accordance with the established uniform and appearance standards.
A valid driver's license is required for this position.

This is an OPS/temporary Job. Temporary role from date of hire through 8/31/2020.
Schedule
Primary hours are between 10:15 pm - 6:45 am. Approximately 28 hours per week. Daytime, evenings, and holidays may be required per the needs of the Ringling.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
