OVERVIEW Civic Nation seeks a Development Associate to serve as a vital part of the Development & Corporate Partnerships Team. The Development Associate will play a key role in researching, prospecting, and providing administrative support around our Major Gifts and Executive outreach program. YOUR IMPACT
Support the Deputy Director of Development in the day-to-day operations of Civic Nation’s prospecting and donor outreach efforts for the development department.

YOUR EXPERIENCE
2+ years of experience in a development or administrative position, preferably in a research or assistant capacity in nonprofit and/or political environments.

Proficiency in Google Suite.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and carry out responsibilities in a timely manner.
Demonstrated experience balancing multiple projects on tight deadlines.
Prior experience with donor management software such as NGP is a plus.

Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting, and the Outdoors (HECHO) was created in 2013 to help fulfill our duty to conserve and protect our public lands for future generations. In 2017, HECHO became a program of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) through a unique and mutually beneficial partnership built upon values of inclusion and equity and a commitment to elevating underrepresented perspectives as part of our conservation missions.
HECHO provides a platform for Hispanics to contribute knowledge and perspectives about public lands conservation issues, enhance leadership capacity of Hispanic leaders, and promote Hispanic cultural heritage and connections to nature. While our focus is on the conservation of public lands in the American Southwest, our work has a national scope and impact. To help achieve our mission of empowering Hispanic leaders to engage their communities in the conservation of our nation’s public lands, we are seeking a Deputy Director to be based in Denver, Colorado .
This is an exciting opportunity to join a flourishing and in-demand program. The time is now for HECHO to expand its reach, influence, and impact by ensuring Hispanic leaders in targeted geographies have the resources they need to drive equitable and enduring public lands conservation wins and Hispanic voices are front and center in public lands decision-making and advocacy. At this pivotal point in HECHO’s growth, to achieve impact at scale, we seek a leader that can direct HECHO’s critical organizational and operational needs in support of growing programmatic work.
Reporting to the HECHO Executive Director, the HECHO Deputy Director will assist the Executive Director in implementing HECHO’s strategic roadmap, and where appropriate implement new processes and approaches to achieve it. They will work with the Executive Director, NWF Operations, and Philanthropy staff to diversify and grow HECHO’s revenue streams while effectively managing systems that maintain efficient operations and build synergies between HECHO and NWF. This full-time position will drive efforts to diversify HECHO’s raised revenue sources and assist HECHO’s Executive Director in the operations of the program, and will be a direct supervisor of several staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of HECHO’s development and fundraising plan by working closely with the Executive Director, HECHO staff, and NWF Philanthropy staff to build revenues from individual donors, businesses, foundations, and other funding sources. This includes:
Cultivating, developing, and deepening relationships with people and institutions, and connecting those relationships to opportunities for giving through gifts of “time, talent, and/or treasure.”
Managing communications with individual supporters and institutional partners, including working with HECHO staff to develop and implement a year-round outreach plan to consistently raise awareness about HECHO and connect to HECHO’s supporters and partners.
Managing the production of annual appeals, donor appreciation outreach, and impact reports.
Supporting and guiding HECHO Advisory Board members involved in soliciting gifts.
Acting as a liaison between the NWF Philanthropy Department and HECHO, collaborating to advance donor prospecting and research, and tracking donors in a database.
Taking ownership for writing compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports for grants and other funding opportunities.
Serve as the lead person assuring efficient operation and administration of the HECHO program. This includes:
Ensuring the management of HECHO operations, including communicating policies and expectations to staff and day-to-day administration (contracts, invoices, expense reporting, etc.).
With NWF Operations and Philanthropy, ensure HECHO properly reports and administers its existing and new grants.
Provide support to the Executive Director as an internal leader by:
Managing HECHO recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention.
Coordinating day-to-day staff management and development with HECHO Executive Director.
Assisting in the performance management process to develop annual workplans and measuring progress against goals.
Support the Executive Director in communications with donors, partners, and funders, including drafting and reviewing messaging, coordinating follow-up, and creating an outreach calendar.

Managing communications with individual supporters and institutional partners, including working with HECHO staff to develop and implement a year-round outreach plan to consistently raise awareness about HECHO and connect to HECHO’s supporters and partners.

Supporting and guiding HECHO Advisory Board members involved in soliciting gifts.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience with non-profit management, operations and/or fundraising experience.

Travel Requirements:

Duties
Director of Government Relations – Primary Responsibilities
Agency lead for tracking, monitoring, testifying, and negotiating 400-500 bills per session. Testimony may be in person or using virtual forums. Many of these bills deal with issues that the Governor has placed on his top priority list, such as climate change, environmental justice, and salmon restoration. The bills related to environmental issues tend to be some of the most controversial and hard-fought bills of any given session and impact budget priorities and budget negotiations.
Conducting activities during the interim (between legislative sessions), including legislative and Governor task forces, public workshops and hearings, rule development, and one-on-one in-district in-person negotiation with legislative leadership and key committee chairs, and working with legislators/Governor’s office to address constituent issues.
Developing and facilitating and supporting passage of all agency request legislation.
Advising the Governor, Chief of Staff, and the Governor’s legislative director on bills and policies pertaining to environmental and natural resources issues.
Representing the agency on the Governor’s Natural Resources Legislative Policy Group, the Governor’s Cabinet Agency Legislative Director’s Group, and other Governor’s Office meetings pertaining or relating to the agency’s environmental work.
Taking a lead role in negotiations with legislators and key stakeholders regarding the agency’s Operating, Capital, and Supplemental Budgets.
Rulemaking responsibility for all agency rule filing, including the CR 101, CR 102, and CR 103, with the Code Reviser’s Office.
Overseeing the staff responsible for strategic planning and performance management for the agency.
Ensuring that stakeholders are notified of significant actions by the agency, including the Governor, congressional delegation, and the legislature.
Speaking before legislative and congressional committees, the news media, business, environmental organizations, and community groups.
Serving as a member of Ecology’s Executive Leadership Team.

The bills related to environmental issues tend to be some of the most controversial and hard-fought bills of any given session and impact budget priorities and budget negotiations.
Conducting activities during the interim (between legislative sessions), including legislative and Governor task forces, public workshops and hearings, rule development, and one-on-one in-district in-person negotiation with legislative leadership and key committee chairs, and working with legislators/Governor’s office to address constituent issues.
Developing and facilitating and supporting passage of all agency request legislation.
Advising the Governor, Chief of Staff, and the Governor’s legislative director on bills and policies pertaining to environmental and natural resources issues.
Representing the agency on the Governor’s Natural Resources Legislative Policy Group, the Governor’s Cabinet Agency Legislative Director’s Group, and other Governor’s Office meetings pertaining or relating to the agency’s environmental work.
Taking a lead role in negotiations with legislators and key stakeholders regarding the agency’s Operating, Capital, and Supplemental Budgets.
Rulemaking responsibility for all agency rule filing, including the CR 101, CR 102, and CR 103, with the Code Reviser’s Office.
Overseeing the staff responsible for strategic planning and performance management for the agency.
Ensuring that stakeholders are notified of significant actions by the agency, including the Governor, congressional delegation, and the legislature.
Speaking before legislative and congressional committees, the news media, business, environmental organizations, and community groups.

In this role you will:
Serve as Ecology’s primary resource for issues relating to the Washington State legislature, including the development and negotiations of agency request legislation, Governor request legislation pertaining to the environment, and legislative branch proposals that support or impact the agency’s environmental work.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in a fast-paced organization at the forefront of national voter engagement and pro-voting rights campaigns across the country. Working closely with the organization’s senior leadership and communications advisors, this highly organized self-starter will lead the development and execution of AVs’ proactive and reactive communications efforts. This communications professional will serve as the primary press contact and as an on the record source for media inquiries. The Communications Manager will oversee the intern program as well as support for internal document vetting and prep. The position works directly with America Votes staff across national departments, as well as in state offices, and reports to the Executive Director.
LOCATION
The location for this position is the Washington, DC area. America Votes is currently working remotely. However, if you are based in a state with an America Votes office, a hybrid approach may be possible, depending on local guidance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and President, develop and execute an organizational communications plan.
Develop written and visual content as well as strategy for America Votes’ social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Serve as primary press contact and on the record spokesperson.
Develop preparation materials for leadership and staff for media appearances as needed.
Maintain media list and oversee clips collection, distribution and archiving.
Prepare written materials for in-state or national staff, including press releases, op-eds, statements, and letters to the editor – as needed.
Copy edit and review all outward-facing written materials for consistency with America Votes’ style and branding guides.
Manage the America Votes internship program, including hiring, delegating tasks, organizing professional development opportunities, and serving as the day-to-day manager of the interns.

COMPENSATION

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in a fast-paced organization at the forefront of national voter engagement and pro-voting rights campaigns across the country. Working closely with the organization’s senior leadership and communications advisors, this highly organized self-starter will lead the development and execution of AVs’ proactive and reactive communications efforts. This communications professional will serve as the primary press contact and as an on the record source for media inquiries. The Communications Manager will oversee the intern program as well as support for internal document vetting and prep. The position works directly with America Votes staff across national departments, as well as in state offices, and reports to the Executive Director.
LOCATION
The location for this position is the Washington, DC area. America Votes is currently working remotely. However, if you are based in a state with an America Votes office, a hybrid approach may be possible, depending on local guidance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and President, develop and execute an organizational communications plan.
Develop written and visual content as well as strategy for America Votes’ social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Serve as primary press contact and on the record spokesperson.
Develop preparation materials for leadership and staff for media appearances as needed.
Maintain media list and oversee clips collection, distribution and archiving.
Prepare written materials for in-state or national staff, including press releases, op-eds, statements, and letters to the editor – as needed.
Copy edit and review all outward-facing written materials for consistency with America Votes’ style and branding guides.
Manage the America Votes internship program, including hiring, delegating tasks, organizing professional development opportunities, and serving as the day-to-day manager of the interns.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, ideally including in a campaign or in-house, non-profit setting.

COMPENSATION

What will you be doing ?
You will lead and support a team of approximately 205 FTEs. The position has 11 direct reports, which includes seven second level managers, located in four regional offices and at our Headquarters Building. Responsibilities include:
Plan, lead, organize, and prioritize the work performed by the Toxics Cleanup Program. Assure appropriate and optimum use of the organization’s resources and enhance the effectiveness of employees through timely appraisal and professional development opportunities. Support effective communications throughout the organization. Maintain the highest standards of personal/professional and ethical conduct and support the state’s goals for a diverse workforce.
Establish the direction of the Toxics Cleanup Program as authorized by state and federal statutes and direct staff to implement accordingly.
Represent the agency on complex negotiations with diverse stakeholder interests to determine the cost-effective and otherwise appropriate approaches to meeting the program's objectives, resolutions of disputes, project-specific concerns, and policy issues affecting toxics cleanup and Underground Storage Tank (UST) program implementation.
Represent the agency before the legislature on toxics cleanup and UST issues.
Ensure staff implement UST regulations, including provisions for financial responsibility at the approximately 9,000 regulated tanks in Washington.
Serve as the determiner for sites that could score high enough to be considered federal Superfund sites. The state maintains the lead role wherever feasible.
Establish program/section priorities through an inclusive process involving affected staff throughout the state.
Develop biennial strategic plan and budget, including significant participation in development of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) specific appropriations request.

The Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty seeks a motivated and experienced Deputy Director to work hand-in-hand with TCADP’s Executive Director to advance the organization’s mission and carry out day-to-day operations, including membership engagement, strategic communications, fundraising, program development, coalition building, and advocacy campaigns.

The Department of Local Services – Road Services Division is searching for a seasoned professional to provide executive-level support to the Division Director, Deputy Director and to the Road Services Division . This role serves as a key member of the office administrative team. **The first round of interviews are scheduled for the week of December 28, 2020* SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES: The successful candidate, at a minimum, will demonstrate skill or ability to:
Manage the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Director’s schedule;
Triage incoming communication , prioritizing and determining its disposition;
Respond to calls from customers, other agencies, and elected officials in a courteous and efficient manner, routing to appropriate staff or managers;
Review, proofread, and format correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness, etc. as well as consistency with organizational policy;
Organize and compile materials required for the transmittal of division legislation or reports to the King County Council, following established protocols and procedures;
Maintain confidential information in a professional manner;
Prepare for and participates in meetings , as assigned, for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects;
Research a variety of topics for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policies and procedures;
Be flexible and comfortable not having the full picture before acting and willingness to move forward despite uncertainty;
Be comfortable in and understands the organizational structure and the ability to be politically savvy;
Understand the importance of effectively build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

Have a strong background supporting an Executive Director, Director/CEO, COO, or other similar senior-level executive and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use of good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy; OR an equivalent background of education and experience;
Is proactive and able to manage a high volume of diverse assignments and projects. Can handle multiple competing priorities and maintain attention to detail;
Have meticulous grammar, editing and writing, presentation and communication skills;
Are knowledgeable about how large organizations work, including how to get things done through formal and informal channels;
Can be flexible and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment;
Are culturally aware and comfortable having complex and challenging discussions about race and diversity in the workplace and are dedicated to building bridges;
