Deschutes County is looking for an experienced Program Manager to lead a team of passionate, dedicated and hard-working employees. This position will oversee the Public Health Advancement and Protections Section, which includes public health information and communications, emergency preparedness, epidemiology, immunizations, and communicable disease prevention, surveillance and response. The Program Manager must be knowledgeable of communicable diseases, including transmission, prevention, and epidemiology, and will guide the daily operations of the Deschutes County local COVID-19 response.
The Program Manager position is part of the Health Services management team and is required to apply public health best practices and principles while assuming a leadership role in strategic and operational planning, service integration, performance management, quality improvement, audits, critical incidents, and complaints. The incumbent will actively participate in community health and needs assessments in order to shape departmental programs and policies. Responsibilities include addressing budgetary solvency, apply for and managing various grant funding streams, evaluating program effectiveness, and developing professional staff.
This position will interface regularly with the public, key agency stakeholders, county commissioners, coordinated care organizations, the media, as well as regional and state partners. May be required to travel throughout the state to participate in various committee meetings and conferences.
