Job Summary 

This position performs the full range of journey level plumbing functions.  Work involves the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, backflow protection, fire protection systems, hot water boilers, re-circulating pumps, and detention area penal-ware in commercial buildings.  Defines, develops, and performs preventative maintenance programs for all specialty equipment and systems of County owned structures.  Obtains competitive price quotes, locates vendors, purchases supplies necessary to maintain inventory, and works as part of a team to design and implement remodel projects and complete assigned projects. 

Work requires knowledge of plumbing codes, is performed with minimal supervision and requires the ability to prioritize duties and work independently as well as part of a team.  The work is physically demanding and entails moderate to heavy lifting (50 to 100 lbs.), working at heights up to 40’, and working in confined spaces.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include: 

  • Completion of a trades apprenticeship program leading to the equivalent of a Journey card or license in the assigned specialty area; and,
  • (2) Two years of general experience in building maintenance, construction, or an additional trade.


The ideal candidate will have a combination of training, experience, and qualifications including the following:
 

  • Possession of a (4) four-year journey level plumbing license issued by the State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries.
  • (6) Six years of plumbing experience in commercial building maintenance or commercial building construction. Knowledge of HVAC systems, and possession of a Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) certification is desirable, but not required.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license at time of hire. A CDL endorsement is beneficial, but not required.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check, including finger printing (work duties will include working within the detention areas of the Clark County jail, Jail Work Center, and Juvenile Center)
  • Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
