Job Description

Job Summary

Residential Appraisers conduct appraisals of urban and rural residential properties following office practices, procedures, and established guidelines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Appraisals include land, single-family residences, 2-4 plexes, farm buildings, and other small structures.

All properties are physically inspected in the revaluation cycle to verify property characteristics. Appraisers document changes and add new construction value to the tax roll. The appraiser will be required to physically measure structures, create & read maps, and evaluate site plans and building specifications, which requires working outside the office in adverse weather conditions. Walking over undeveloped and sloped terrain, crawling under and over barriers, and climbing ladders or steep stairways is often required.

Appraiser I: Associate's or Bachelor's degree with major course work in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math, or a related field or at least three to six months related experience in the areas of appraisal principles and techniques. The appraiser I position is considered an entry-level training position.

Appraiser II: Associate's or Bachelor's degree with major coursework in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math or construction and two years of prior appraisal-related experience.
