Job Summary
Residential Appraisers conduct appraisals of urban and rural residential properties following office practices, procedures, and established guidelines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Appraisals include land, single-family residences, 2-4 plexes, farm buildings, and other small structures.
All properties are physically inspected in the revaluation cycle to verify property characteristics. Appraisers document changes and add new construction value to the tax roll. The appraiser will be required to physically measure structures, create & read maps, and evaluate site plans and building specifications, which requires working outside the office in adverse weather conditions. Walking over undeveloped and sloped terrain, crawling under and over barriers, and climbing ladders or steep stairways is often required.

Education and Experience:
Appraiser I: Associate's or Bachelor's degree with major course work in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math, or a related field or at least three to six months related experience in the areas of appraisal principles and techniques. Successful completion of Washington State Department of Revenue Appraiser Accreditation and IAAO Course 101 (Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal) are required within twelve months of hire. The appraiser I position is considered an entry-level training position.
Appraiser II: Associate's or Bachelor's degree with major coursework in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math or construction and two years of prior appraisal-related experience. Successful completion of Washington State Department of Revenue Appraiser Accreditation is required within six months of hire.
Appraiser III: Bachelor's degree with major coursework in appraisal, real estate, business, accounting, math or construction and three or more years of prior appraisal experience. Department of Revenue Accreditation must be achieved within six months of hire. Full-time appraisal experience over five years may be considered instead of the degree requirement
SALARY
Appraiser I: $19.83 – $25.27 per hour
Appraiser II: $22.91 – $29.29 per hour
Appraiser III: $27.88 – $35.57 per hour
