Job Summary
This management level position is responsible for the supervision of Juvenile Detention staff, programs, and administrative duties. Supervisory responsibilities include planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing shift and work assignments; meeting with staff to identify issues and facilitate problem solving; monitoring work flow; and evaluating and improving work practices and procedures. The incumbent becomes part of the management team and as such works to ensure that the mission and values of the court are incorporated in work practices. The Juvenile Detention Supervisor participates in the evaluation, development, and implementation of Juvenile Services’ goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; and recommends and implements appropriate changes to these policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, sociology, behavioral science, or a related field is preferred. The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Four years of professional experience working with at risk youth. A strong desire to work with high risk/high needs youth.
